Welcome to the home page of the "Society of Tobacco Jar Collectors." We are a worldwide group of people dedicated to the collection of "figural" tobacco jars and the proliferation of information about these jars. Most of these jars were made around the turn of the century in Central and Eastern Europe.
The "Society" has been in existence since 1992 and has grown to nearly 100 members. We have annual meetings in the Fall which allows us to gather and discuss the latest trends, see new acquisitions, hear from experts in the field and to sell or trade jars with fellow collectors from around the world. The meetings have been held in Baltimore, Richmond, Atlanta, New Orleans, Atlantic City Carmel, Ca., London England and in 2005, Vienna Austria. Plans for the 2006 meeting are in the process of being arranged to be held in September in either Paris, Amsterdam or some location in the United States. We usually plan our meetings around a large antique show, auction, or other major event featuring tobacciana.
Annual dues for the "Society" are $35.00 which entitles you to receive a newsletter 4 times a year, free advertising in the newsletter for those who want to sell and access to the latest information concerning values and auction results You also receive printed material related to the figural tobacco jars and an invitation to join us at our annual meetings.
Any interested person is welcome to contact the Society at the address listed below.
